The Most Expensive Connor McDavid Rookie Cards on Courtyard

The Most Expensive Connor McDavid Rookie Cards on Courtyard

Back in 2013, Sports Illustrated profiled a 16-year-old kid from Ontario. The headline? "The Next Next Next One."

Thirteen years, six Art Ross Trophies, and one Olympic MVP later, nobody is asking whether Connor McDavid—the Canadian icon that is often referred to by his nickname, McJesus—has lived up to the hype. The only questions left are will he be able to get over the Stanley Cup hump, and what is the cardboard for one of the greatest hockey players of all time worth.

On Courtyard, the most expensive Connor McDavid cards all come from his rookie year in 2015, led by a 2015 Ultimate Collection Spectrum Silver Jersey Autograph numbered to just 49 (BGS 9.5). Will that value push higher as the Edmonton Oilers make another push to win the league, could failure to do so see it fall, and what would a change of scenery (“The Trade” 2.0) mean for the McDavid market?

Connor McDavid in 2026-27: Why Collectors Are Paying Up

No. 97 has packed a lot into the last 12 months. He put up 48 goals and 90 apples for 138 points last season, leading the league in points for the sixth time. In February, smack dab in the middle of the season, he set the NHL-era Olympic record with 13 points in Milan and was named tournament MVP and best forward—even as Canada fell to Team USA and the Tkachuk brothers 2-1 in overtime in the gold medal game.

Then came the turbulence: The Oilers bowed out in the first round of the playoffs, hired Mike Babcock to serve as the team’s new head coach behind the bench, and started their 2026-27 campaign with a 6-5 overtime loss to Vancouver. Factoring in McDavid’s two-year, $12.5 AAV contract that runs through 2027-28, and every shift this season carries even more weight than normally rests of his broad shoulders.

Off the ice, collectors have noticed. Four of the five biggest McDavid sales in Courtyard's marketplace history closed in September 2026, just before the puck dropped. Do they know something we don’t? Is this the year Edmonton gets to celebrate like it’s 1990, or will those collectors be lamenting that they didn’t wait until next spring to make their buy?

Top Shelf: The Best Connor McDavid Rookie Cards on Courtyard

Unsurprisingly, McDavid’s priciest cards on Courtyard dominated by rookies—and because every card on Courtyard is guaranteed authentic by third party grading companies, you know the decade-old cards are all legit. Here are the most valuable McDavid cards in our inventory, by fair market value:

  1. $1,592: 2015 Upper Deck #201 Young Guns (BGS 9.5 )
  2. $1,213: 2015 Upper Deck #201 Young Guns (PSA 9)
  3. $1,035: 2024 Upper Deck Young Guns Achievements (PSA 10)
  4. $1,000: 2015 O.P.C. Platinum Marquee Rookie - Ice White (PSA 9)
  5. $496: 2015 Upper Deck Canvas #C270 (PSA 10)

Young Guns is, as is most cases for hockey collectors, the card to have. It's Upper Deck's flagship rookie, and McDavid's most-collected card, and we have a few copies in stock. If you want to keep your shot on target under $500, the PSA 10 Canvas #C270 is your best way in.

The All-Time Greatest Connor McDavid Card Sales on Courtyard:

Our peer-to-peer marketplace tells the same story. Here are the biggest McDavid sales on Courtyard’s Marketplace in Courtyard's history:

  1. $3,771: 2015 Ultimate Collection Spectrum Silver #109 Jersey Autograph /49 (BGS 9.5)
  2. $1,462: 2015 Upper Deck #201 Young Guns (BGS 9.5)
  3. $1,429: 2015 Upper Deck #201 Young Guns (BGS 9.5)

The Spectrum Silver is the grail of the group; kudos to that collector. Ultimate Collection's Spectrum parallels sit near the very top of McDavid's rookie market: a one-of-one Spectrum Teal Autograph Shield from the same set sold for $305,000 at Heritage Auctions in 2025, at the time a public-auction record for any McDavid card. The one that sold on our marketplace is numbered to 49, with a jersey swatch, an autograph and a Gem Mint grade from Beckett. She’s a beauty!

Interestingly, three of these sales closed between Sept. 22 and Sept. 26, a five-day power play right before opening night. A PSA 9 Young Guns that went for $1,103 on Sept. 14 also cracks the all-time top five. The lone holdover from before this fall is a BGS 9.5 Young Guns that sold for $1,221 back in November 2025.

The Next One vs. The Great One: McDavid's Search Numbers on Courtyard

While Courtyard doesn’t exactly have its own Corsi, we do have some interesting data of our own: Over the last 30 days, McDavid was the third most-searched hockey player on Courtyard. Here's the top five:

  1. Wayne Gretzky
  2. Sidney Crosby
  3. Connor McDavid
  4. Alex Ovechkin
  5. Auston Matthews

So The Next One still trails The Great One—and Sid the Kid—at least in the search bar on Courtyard. However, some of the biggest McDavid sales in the history of our marketplace landed this month, and McDavid is within reach of Crosby and Gretzky, so we’ll see how this changes as the 2026-27 season moves along.

Why Courtyard Is the Place to Chase Connor McDavid Cards:

The NHL now has a 84-game season, which means more goals/assists for McDavid to rack up. Add in a new coach and a two-year contract clock, and McDavid is going to be among the biggest stories in hockey all year, one way or another.

If the Oilers finally win it all, his rookie cards are the ones collectors will scramble for first. In the meantime, you can browse the Connor McDavid cards marketplace, check out cards from his Olympic linemate Macklin Celebrini, or rip a few hockey packs and let ‘er rip!
