TL;DR: The World Cup semifinals are heating up, and Courtyard is celebrating with a matchup of our own. Icons from the Avengers and Justice League face off in Battle of Heroes, a limited-time comic pack loaded with Spicy odds and bigger chase potential.
With the World Cup final drawing closer, we’re turning our attention to a different kind of team competition.
After weeks of watching heroes step up for their nations, we wanted to celebrate the ones who band together to save the day. The result is Battle of Heroes, a limited-time comic pack built around two of the greatest superteams in comic history: the Avengers and the Justice League.
From the 1960s through today, these teams have faced countless villains, survived world-shaking events, and assembled some of the most iconic rosters ever put on a comic-book page.
The pack spans their self-titled series, along with stories featuring the many heroes who have worn the team colors over the years. Exactly who counts as a member of these constantly changing rosters is always up for debate, so we went broad. That includes characters who have joined the teams in the comics, appeared on their movie rosters, or played a major role in their history.
So, webheads, don’t worry. Peter Parker made the Avengers roster.
To raise the stakes, Battle of Heroes is running in Spicy Mode, giving you a shot at revealing even bigger books than usual.
The full lineup is stacked, but a few major chases stand above the rest.
On the DC side, look out for Showcase #22, featuring the first appearance of Hal Jordan, along with the iconic Batman #227.
Representing Marvel is a beautiful Avengers #1 graded CGC 3.5, plus Avengers #4, featuring the first Silver Age appearance of Steve Rogers and his return to the Captain America mantle.
