Introducing the First-Ever CGC-Graded Comic Book Vending Machine

TL;DR: We just launched the first-ever comic book Vending Machine with CGC — 1,200 packs at $200 each, each containing a vaulted, CGC-graded comic with full transparency and instant buyback offers.

We’ve teamed up with CGC, the leader in comic grading, to launch something the comic book world has never seen before: a virtual vending machine stocked entirely with real CGC-graded comic books.

As of today, June 17, our new Comic Vending Machine is officially live. It includes 1,200 packs, each priced at $200, and each containing one CGC-graded comic. Just like our flagship experiences with graded Pokémon and sports cards, the price is set to reflect the expected value — some pulls will be worth more, some less, but the average across all packs is $200. It’s our way of keeping the experience fun and fair.

All comics are graded by CGC, vaulted and insured with Courtyard at no cost, and receive an instant 90% FMV buyback offer once revealed. As packs are purchased, odds and top hits update in real time, giving collectors full visibility into what they can receive.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Courtyard to make CGC-graded books more accessible, and I love the transparency of the pricing,” said Matt Nelson, CGC President. “When it comes to vending machines, trading cards have had all the fun for too long. I’m excited to see comics in this innovative collecting space.”

This first drop features a curated lineup of modern keys and vintage grails, with highlights including Amazing Spider-Man 129, Incredible Hulk 181, and more.

This marks our first major expansion beyond trading cards, which now power over $50 million in monthly GMV on Courtyard. It’s part of our bigger mission to make collectibles more accessible — whether you’ve been collecting for decades or are just now getting into the hobby.
